To take on such a big challenge, we need you with us now—so please claim your 2014 membership today.
A big challenge demands a big strategy—one that isn’t limited to one approach—or even one country. Around the world, we’re: - Pushing for national limits on carbon pollution from America’s dirtiest power plants—responsible for 40% of all carbon pollution in America;
- Working with indigenous communities in the Amazon to slow deforestation, which contributes 15% of global greenhouse gases;
- Taking lessons learned from California’s successful economy-wide carbon market and applying them halfway around the world in China, the world’s largest emitter of carbon pollution.
We’re taking on the biggest sources of carbon pollution, and we’re making a big difference. Here's how: - More than 100,000 EDF members have filed formal comments in support of EPA’s proposed national carbon pollution limits for new power plants.
- Brazil has already slowed its deforestation by 75% and has committed to an 80% reduction by 2020.
- China’s carbon markets are predicted to reduce emissions 21% by 2015.
But we can’t build on this progress without the support of our most important partner: YOU.
I hope we have you with us. We need it in a big way.
Thank you for everything you do,

P.S. You and I are on the front lines of this fight—and I know how frustrating it can be to see so many lagging behind us. But there is hope. As Margaret Mead famously said: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
