| Almost 10,000 EDF members recently shared their thoughts with us by responding to our year-end survey. I thought I’d share some of the most interesting results with you.
Climate Change is Your Top Priority (and ours, too!) As you know, partnerships are the hallmark of our work. When we asked you what partnerships you’d most like us to focus on, your top three choices underscored that fighting climate change is your #1 priority.
Like you, we believe that climate change is the biggest threat facing our planet today, and we’ve made fighting it our #1 priority, too.

You Want National Political Action and Local Stewardship When it comes to the best way to fight climate change, you reported that you most want to see us addressing climate change by working with the federal and state governments to enact smart climate policy, while working with local communities to safeguard our local ecosystems and increase usage of clean energy.
Top-Voted Strategies for Fighting Climate Change #1 - Work with U.S. Congress and the Obama Administration to enact laws that promote clean energy and reduce carbon emissions. #2 - Work in individual states to enact policies to secure our climate future. #3 - Help local communities to use land sustainably and protect ecosystems, as well as to implement clean energy projects. #4 - Partner with businesses to help them reduce carbon emissions while boosting the economy. #5 - Educating the public about what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint.
You’re Making a Difference Every Day In your own lives, nearly all of you reported recycling, composting, and otherwise reducing the waste you generate. Spreading the word to others and political advocacy rounded out the top 3 of your daily activities on behalf of the environment, with home energy efficiency, reduced meat consumption, and local food purchasing also ranking highly.
